Dr. Hassell has more than 20 years as an expert in evidence acquisition and evaluation, case preparation, deposition, and testimony. Cases include plaintiff and defendant, civil and criminal, throughout the U.S Consultant for various industries, including: telecommunications, engineering, international banking, structural engineering, data warehousing, medical billing. Developed technique for quantifying claims of copying computer code and attendant manuals. Published in mathematics, computer science, and law journals. Current research includes measuring and automating copyright infringement processes and the use of source code analyzers in determining substantial similarity. Served on the faculty of Tulane’s School of Engineering more than for 25 years.
