Profile:
Dr. Stanley D. Gertzbein is an internationally recognized orthopedic surgeon with more than 35 years of experience, the last 25 years devoted to the treatment of complex spinal trauma cases resulting from automobile and other accidents, as well as other complex disorders of the spine. He practiced orthopedic surgery in Canada from 1973-1991, where he was Director of the Spine Trauma Unit at Sunnybrook Medical Centre, the largest spine trauma centre in Canada. In 1991, he began orthopedic practice in Houston Texas where he held the rank of Professor of Orthopedics at Baylor College of Medicine. He is currently a Full Clinical Professor at the University of Texas Medical Branch Galveston, Texas and is also on the faculty of the University of Colorado. He has appeared on Steven Spielberg's "Miracle Workers".
