Frank Painter is a healthcare technology consultant. He specializes in areas of service management, healthcare technology, risk management and accident investigation as well as medical equipment service. He is Clinical Engineering Program Director and faculty member in the Biomedical Engineering Graduate Program at the University of Connecticut.
He has directed clinical engineering departments at two large metropolitan university teaching hospitals and managed two successful regional medical equipment service organizations. He is an expert on healthcare equipment and medical devices found in the hospital. He has presented papers on risk management, quality improvement, human factors, technology assessment and technology management, both nationally and internationally. He is actively involved in the profession, having been President of the American College of Clinical Engineering, Chairman of the US Board of Examiners for Clinical Engineering Certification and Chairman of the Healthcare Technology Certification Commission.
