Profile:
I provide consultation and testimony, for both plaintiffs and defendants, in cases involving the alleged direct or adaptive plagiarism of music. My doctoral dissertation, pre-doctoral investigations and later presentations and publications have dealt mainly with the non-literate creation, transmission, perception, assimilation and re-fashioning of folk and popular melodies. Whenever circumstances permit, I use in the investigation of misappropriation claims a computer-supported analytical system that I developed for my dissertation research. I have provided consultation on issues of plagiarism and unauthorized derivation since 1996, and I have conducted more extensive investigations and rendered expert testimony since 2002-2003.
