Buford is a former police officer from the Metro Nashville Police Department where he was assigned to the Special Operations Divisions/Tactical Squad; his assignments were Bomb Squad, Dignitary Protection Team, Special Investigator to the District Attorneys office, Under cover robbery and sting operations, Special Assignments with the F.B.I./A.T.F./Secret Service, and the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

He is a long time board member of the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance Private Protective Services and works very close with many security organizations and government agencies on security matters and was just appointed to the Emergency Communications Board by the Mayor of Nashville. He sits on the review board for several hospitals for security matters and problems and trains the security personnel for most all of the Nashville Hospitals and many Security companies in Tennessee. He also serves as a security advisor for many proprietary and contract security companies in Tennessee.

He has numerous licenses and certifications and has testified many times as an expert witness or consultant on Law Enforcement situations, security situations and for private companies on security matters in the workplace, self-defense, firearms, use of force, work place violence, property security /law-enforcement liability from the common sense aspect.

He also has trained many law-enforcement agencies and officers and he has given many presentations to companies, clubs and organizations on property safety/security and the liabilities of no or improper security and security training, work place violence, street survival, rape defense.
