Chandra K. Thorbole, Ph.D., is Chief Research Engineer for The Engineering Institute. His areas of expertise include automotive and aircraft crashworthiness, multi-body kinematics and dynamics, finite element analysis, injury biomechanics as well as composites and structures. He has software skills in computer programs for the following: multi-body simulation, occupant safety analysis, finite element analysis and solid modeling/meshing. He has worked extensively with occupant kinematics and MADYMO software, primarily with respect to aircraft and automobile seats and systems for crash research. He spent many years performing lab research at the National Institute for Aviation Research at Wichita State University.
