Profile:
My area of expertise encompasses the use of PET scans (positron emission tomography) for the study of brain function in conditions such as brain trauma, hypoxia, toxic encephalopathy (e.g. secondary to solvent exposure), neuropsychiatric conditions (e.g. schizophrenia, bipolar or manic-depressive) which could affect frontal lobe or other brain regions. Such injuries or abnormalities can affect cognitive or emotional function and result in impairments which can be demonstrated with PET scans but which are often not visualizable with structural brain imaging approaches such as CAT or MRI scans. I have been called as expert witness in civil and criminal matters where the ability to evaluate brain function and impairment is relevant.
