Profile:
Dr. Stephen Schwartz, Professor of Physical Education, Director of Coaching Training Programs, and Assistant Dean of Natural and Social Sciences at Buffalo State College, has expertise in safety supervision and risk management in physical education, athletics, playgrounds and organized camping. A physical educator for 40 years, he was the College's intramural-recreation director for 23 years administering, among other programs, a floor hockey league for 1,000 students. He currently teaches undergraduates risk management and safety in school sports and physical education, as well as camp and playground supervision techniques and overall safety procedures. A former college baseball player, basketball coach, and umpire/referee, he currently is the principal advisor for all of his College's physical education teacher Masters candidates. Dr. Schwartz has published papers and made presentations on the subjects of recreational sports and organized camping injuries, and their prevention.
