James A. Green's professional memberships include the Southwest Association of Forensic Document Examiners, the American Academy of Forensic Sciences - Questioned Document Section and the American Society of Questioned Document Examiners (he currently serves as the Secretary of the Executive Board of the ASQDE). He has attended numerous training conferences throughout the United States and continues to attend on a regular basis.

Additionally, Mr. Green has been certified by the American Board of Forensic Document Examiners (ABFDE). There are currently no other private or government document examiners, currently certified by the ABFDE in Oregon, Washington, Alaska, Montana or Idaho.

Until his retirement from the Eugene Police Department, Mr. Green conducted all of the examinations related to the department's criminal cases as well as for the FBI, DEA, IRS, US Forest Service and other police departments in the Eugene area. His private practice has included cases from throughout the United States, Canada and Micronesia. Most cases are submitted by civil, prosecuting and defense attorneys as well as by corporations, insurance groups, municipalities and private individuals. He has testified as an expert witness in the State courts of Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, Texas and Washington as well as the Federal courts of California, Oregon and Washington.

The majority of cases submitted involve the comparison of handwriting. Mr. Green has also been trained in, and has resolved, cases related to alterations, obliterations, indented writing and typewritten document comparisons. His laboratory has a variety of sophisticated instruments to employ during the examination process, dictated by the issues involved.
