Expert Witness Profile

For over thirty years David Del Vecchio has helped insurance carriers, attorneys, architects, interior designers, contractors, developers, municipalities, landlords, and homeowners successfully resolve construction disputes. He maintains an active architectural design practice in addition to his expert witness services. He firmly believes that being a great designer makes you a better expert witness, and being a great expert witness makes you a better designer. David is well versed in the AIA Contract Documents and has a deep understanding of how the general conditions of the contract apply to the mutual obligations and authority of owners, architects, and contractors, including the change order process, and construction contract administration. He is currently licensed as an architect in six states, NJ, NY, CT, PA, MA, and FL, is a Certified Interior Designer, an RCS Building Inspector, a LEEDap, and has testified in a construction dispute in The Bahamas on alleged construction defects, wrongful termination, and AIA Contract Document compliance. Among the matters he has helped resolve include EIFS construction, OSHA regulations, flat roofs, wrongful deaths, building envelope design and construction, cement board siding, ADA compliance, construction permitting and brick masonry design. Building types range from single family residential design to restaurant design to university academic buildings to large condominium developments. David served on the AIA National Board of Directors and is actively involved in the governance of AIA New Jersey. He taught courses in the architectural curriculum at Essex County College for eight years, including Construction Methods and Materials, Architectural Design Studio, and Architectural History.
