I graduated from Duke University and Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest, Romania, subsequently I completed my residency in anesthesiology at St. Lukes-Roosevelt Hospital Center, Columbia University, in New York City which was followed by two years of fellowship training in Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anesthesia at Duke University. During my second year at Duke, I obtained a Masters Degree in Health Sciences and Clinical Research.
My area of expertise include anesthesiology, cardiac anesthesia, intraoperative transesophageal echocardiography, open heart surgery, minimally invasive cardiac surgery, valve surgery, ventricular assist devices, aortic surgery, heart and lung transplantation, liver transplantation, pain management, trauma surgery, brain injury, biomedical devices, structural heart and cardiac catheterization procedures.
My over 20 years of clinical expertise includes, but not limited to perioperative care of patients undergoing coronary artery bypass surgery, valve surgery, minimally invasive cardiac surgery, placement of ventricular assist devices, heart, lung and liver transplantation, thoracic aortic surgery and lung surgery. I have extensive experience with intraoperative transesophageal echocardiography examination of cardiac surgical patients.
