Dr. Weber has worked on food safety related issues on a national basis for over 30 years. This includes recently working as the Prevention Manager for the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Coordinated Outbreak Response and Evaluation Network (CORE). There he was involved in more than 100 foodborne illness outbreaks, from detection through root cause analysis of prevention options. Prior to working at FDA he spent 12 years as the Executive Director of Regulatory Affairs for the cattle industry. There he played a key role in meat inspection reform and HACCP. He also worked for the USDA in Washington, DC for 7 years. He has testified under oath before congressional committees and in legal proceedings. During the past 2 years he as served as an expert on a number of legal cases, including Listeria in frozen vegetables and E. coli O157:H7 on Romaine lettuce. He has has received training as a Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) Preventive Controls and Foreign Supplier Verification Program Qualified Individual as well as PSA Produce Grower Training. He is also involved in compliance education efforts related to the FSMA Produce Safety Rule, "Educate before you Regulate."
