Recognized expert in emergency vehicle operation and high-performance driving: Driver, driver instructor, vehicle design, fabrication, testing, training development, review of policy and procedures. Forty plus years’ experience instructing all aspects of driving: Emergency vehicle operations (EVOC); Pursuit intervention techniques (PIT maneuver); Defensive driving; Trailering; Advanced high-performance driving; boat operation/handling and enforcement. Instruction experience includes most all of the various types of vehicles utilized in law enforcement agencies (municipal, state and federal), government employees and the general public. He was recruited by California Police Officer Standard of training (POST) to serve as an inspector / evaluator for EVOC at public safety training centers (law enforcement academies) throughout California. In the five- year term, Gregg Higginbotham reviewed, for recertification and continued accreditation, numerous law enforcement training centers. His other POST instructor certifications include Defensive Tactics / Use of Force, Chemical Agents and Report Writing for Law Enforcement. Additionally, he is experienced and accomplished in many types of competitive motor sports. He has completed several advanced high-performance driver training schools and instructor schools in the private sector which include BMW and General Motors Corporation. Retired California municipal law enforcement after 28 consecutive years. During his law enforcement career, he served in the following assignments: Field Training Officer for new police recruits and lateral transfer officers for 26 years; SWAT leader and SWAT officer for 23 years; Property Investigations Detective for 5 years; Accident investigations 6 years; Motorcycle officer 6 years; Boating officer 5 years. Gregg Higginbotham has membership and is an active member in several national law enforcement organizations purposed for the continued study and updating of law enforcement and high-performance driving techniques, laws, and policy.
