Laura Burchell-Henson has been a licensed Registered Nurse for 30 years and a licensed Respiratory Therapist for 37 years. Additionally, she has been a Legal Nurse Consultant for 22 years. She has been retained as an expert in more than 1000 cases. She has testified a total of 185 times either at trial, deposition, arbitration or before the Board of Registered Nursing’s administrative judge.
Ms. Burchell-Henson’s nursing experience includes Skilled Nursing facilities, Critical Care, Burn Unit, Emergency Room, Medical-Surgical, Nursing Supervisor, Discharge Planning, development of hospital policies, homecare, post-operative care, JCAHO preparedness and Interventional Radiology.
She has been retained as a nursing expert in various types of cases to include pressure ulcer prevention and treatment, fall prevention, IV and injection injuries, elder abuse, sexual assaults of patients by staff, overdose of medications given by nursing staff, delay in physician notification and treatment, fraudulent charting, failure to do appropriate nursing assessments and failure to follow-up when there is a change in a patient’s condition.
