Paul L. Schneider, MD, FACP, is an Internal Medicine Hospitalist who has led a busy hospital ethics committee for approximately the past 25 years and done several thousand ethics consultations. His expertise centers around ethical aspects of caring for patients with medical and psychiatric problems, decision-making capacity and competence, end-of-life care, advance directives and POLST, and ethics mediation of clinical conflicts. Recognized as an excellent speaker, he frequently lectures on these topics to a variety of audiences. He leads the Southern California Bioethics Committee Consortium, the regional Bioethics society and has planned and led multiple conferences under their auspices. He also co-chairs the Joint Bioethics Committee of the Los Angeles County Bar Association/Los Angeles County Medical Association.
