Dr Usha Raj is a neonatologist with over 40 years of experience. Her experience includes being the Director of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and the Chief of the Division of Neonatology at Harbor UCLA Medical Center, UCLA School of Medicine in Torrance CA, during the period 1984 to 2008. She has trained many neonatologists as the Training Program Director of the Combined Neonatal Fellowship at harbor UCLA and Children's Hospital of Orange County for 12 years. When Dr. Raj relocated to Chicago to be the Head of the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Illinois at Chicago, she ran their Neonatal Fellowship Training Program for several years. She continues to teach medical students, nurses, residents, fellows and junior faculty at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Dr. Raj's expertise is in all areas of Neonatology. Her special areas of expertise are in Neonatal Pulmonary Hypertension, Lung Diseases, Respiratory Distress Syndrome, Meconium Aspiration Syndrome. She has been researching the Neonatal Pulmonary Circulation and Pulmonary Hypertension for over 40 years with NIH funding. Dr. Raj is an External Advisor to the Pediatric Pulmonary Hypertension Network of North America since 2008. Her other areas of expertise are in Neonatal Hypoxic-Ischemic Encephalopathy, Cerebral palsy, Neonatal Resuscitation, Birth trauma and Neonatal Sepsis. With her administrative background and Master's In Health Care administration she also has expertise in NICU safety issues and NICU administration.
